Angular 7, Extension method with NgModel

I have a global.d.ts file which has the following extension method declaration:

declare global {
interface Object {
isEmpty(this: Object): boolean;
}
}

And an object-extension file which has the implementation:

Object.prototype.isEmpty = function (this: any) : boolean {
return true;//some logic
};

in main.ts I import the object-extension file.
Extension method works just fine. BUT

When I have a component with [(ngModel)] in it (in an input tag), it yields the below error:

ERROR Error: Uncaught (in promise): Error: @Output isEmpty not initialized in 'NgModel'. Error: @Output isEmpty not initialized in 'NgModel'.
