"articleBody":"HaldwaniThe stalled construction of an interstate bus terminus in Haldwani has become a political tug of war between the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with each blaming the other for delay.The work was stopped on May 11 after skeletons and graves were unearthed at the site on May 9, following which state transport minister Yashpal Arya ordered an enquiry into the matter.Arya said the work was stopped due to irregularities in the cost of the project and shrinkage of land at the construction site.During the previous Congress government’s tenure the project cost has increased from ₹15 crore to more than ₹ 75 crore, he said. The Congress, however, blames the minister of subverting the project that was started by the Harish Rawat-led government. Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Indira Hridyesh, lashed out at the BJP government for stalling a major development project in the Kumaon region.The project should be resumed immediately, she said. Haldwani city Congress chief Rahul Chhimwal blamed the transport minister for stopping the construction, saying that the BJP is trying to delay the project for vested interest.“They can’t digest the fact that the important project was the brain child of the previous Congress government and now they want to stall it for their own personal interests,” he said.“The BJP government can conduct an enquiry into the allegations of financial bungling, but stopping of works is not justified.”",
