NSwag - How to read response content in “ProcessResponse”-method
I am generating my RestClient via NSwag. When doing an API request in my App, the response content is being read correctly by the generated code:
...
ProcessResponse(client_, response_);
var status_ = ((int)response_.StatusCode).ToString();
if (status_ == "200") {
var responseData_ = response_.Content == null ? null : await response_.Content.ReadAsStringAsync().ConfigureAwait(false);
...
However, sometimes I want to analyze the response and act differently before deserializing the content into JSON. I created another file and implemented the partial method:
partial void ProcessResponse(System.Net.Http.HttpClient client, System.Net.Http.HttpResponseMessage response)
When I try to read the response content inside the "ProcessResponse"-method the same way it is read in the generated class,
await response_.Content.ReadAsStringAsync().ConfigureAwait(false)
my app hangs indefinitely. As "ProcessResponse"-method is not async, I wrapped the call into
var contentString = Task.Run(async () => await response.Content.ReadAsStringAsync()).Result;
When trying to read the result of the task, the app hangs forever. Currently I'm totally at loss:
- Why does "ReadAsStringAsync" work in the generated code, but not inside the "ProcessResponse"-method.
- How can I read the response content inside the "ProcessResponse"-method?
Thank you very much in advance,
Hendryk

You can probably read only once, the second/generated read will fail
