C# MongoDB Unable to find cursor intermittently

0

Our team setup a CosmosDB instance in Azure, and we are using the MongoDB interface. We have a dotnet core micro service that interacts with the database using the C# driver. Everything seems to be working in our development environments, and integration tests are passing when we deploy to Azure. However, after the weekend, we have noticed some random errors:

MongoDB.Driver.MongoCommandException: Command getMore failed: Unable to find cursor with id: 31. at MongoDB.Driver.Core.WireProtocol.CommandUsingQueryMessageWireProtocol1.ProcessReply(ConnectionId connectionId, ReplyMessage1 reply) at MongoDB.Driver.Core.WireProtocol.CommandUsingQueryMessageWireProtocol1.Execute(IConnection connection, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at MongoDB.Driver.Core.WireProtocol.CommandWireProtocol1.Execute(IConnection connection, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at MongoDB.Driver.Core.Servers.Server.ServerChannel.ExecuteProtocol[TResult](IWireProtocol1 protocol, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at MongoDB.Driver.Core.Servers.Server.ServerChannel.Command[TResult](ICoreSession session, ReadPreference readPreference, DatabaseNamespace databaseNamespace, BsonDocument command, IEnumerable1 commandPayloads, IElementNameValidator commandValidator, BsonDocument additionalOptions, Action1 postWriteAction, CommandResponseHandling responseHandling, IBsonSerializer1 resultSerializer, MessageEncoderSettings messageEncoderSettings, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at MongoDB.Driver.Core.Operations.AsyncCursor1.ExecuteGetMoreCommand(IChannelHandle channel, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at MongoDB.Driver.Core.Operations.AsyncCursor1.GetNextBatch(CancellationToken cancellationToken) at MongoDB.Driver.Core.Operations.AsyncCursor1.MoveNext(CancellationToken cancellationToken) at MongoDB.Driver.IAsyncCursorExtensions.ToList[TDocument](IAsyncCursor1 source, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at

I cut out the rest of the trace as it points to our code at that point. It doesn't happen every time, but it points to the following snippet of code:

'var collection = _database.GetCollection<CollectionType>(Collectionname);
if (collection == null)
{
return null;
}
var result = await collection.FindAsync(x => someQuery);
return result?.ToList();'

The stack trace points to the return results?.ToList(); line.
