Error: key must not contain '.' in mongoose

I am inserting a lot of records from from an api endpoint.
At one point during the insertion it throws an error because it finds a key named A.B. I guess MongoDB doesn't allow that. Is there a way to handle it in Mongoose?
Thanks

You could replace the dot with something allowed. Underscore, for example.
