I am trying to learn Apollo GraphQL for the OpenStates API that I am currently using that is going to be upgraded to it next year. What happens is that I am currently requesting the url and it is going through, but the data is not being presented. The Call is below:
func getOpenStatesBeta() {
let apollo: ApolloClient = {
let configuration = URLSessionConfiguration.default
// Add additional headers as needed
configuration.httpAdditionalHeaders = ["X-API-KEY": "API KEY"]
let url = URL(string: "http://alpha.openstates.org/graphql")!
let client = ApolloClient(networkTransport: HTTPNetworkTransport(url: url, configuration: configuration))
return client
}()
apollo.fetch(query: Legislators()) { (result, error) in
guard let data = result?.data else {
print("Error while fetching query: (String(describing: error?.localizedDescription))")
return
}
print("RESULT: (String(describing: result))")
print(data.jsonObject)
}
}
What I am fetching is basic Legislator Data that they Open States has in the documentation by putting it in a .qraphql that is listed below:
{
people(first: 3) {
edges {
node {
name
}
}
}
}
It should return this output in the console log as a jsonValue:
{
"data": {
"people": {
"edges": [
{
"node": {
"name": "Lydia Brasch"
}
},
{
"node": {
"name": "Matt Williams"
}
},
{
"node": {
"name": "Merv Riepe"
}
}
]
}
}
}
Whenever I try to put the full url in Postman like so:
http://beta.openstates.org/graphql?query={people(first:3){edges{node{name}}}} it works and it is returning json data. Whenever I try to run it in xCode it fails. If I could just look at the full url that is being passed in maybe I could figure out where I am going wrong. But as of right now I am lost. I have looked at the Apollo documentation, but I am confused and really don't know where to go from here. Any thoughts?
