Add authentication for flask applications that were combined using application dispatching

I have two Flask applications that I was able to combine using DispatcherMiddleware, [http://flask.pocoo.org/docs/1.0/patterns/appdispatch/#app-dispatch][1]
So for example using the following code,
from werkzeug.wsgi import DispatcherMiddleware
from frontend_app import application as application1
from backend_app import application as application2
application = DispatcherMiddleware(application1, {
'/app2': application2
})
I would like that application2 to only be accessible by logged in users. Also I cannot edit the code for application2 .
The user's logging in and logging out is already handled by application1. I just want to ensure that only logged in users get access to application2.
Thanks
flask flask-login
