How does W10 OS react to increased RAM capacity? [closed]

When you increase/upgrade the amount of RAM in a Windows 10 machine, how does the operating system react?

I recently carried this out on 14 Dell machines running windows 10 64bit and the first 5 minutes of being in the operating system were laggy and seemed like it was doing something in the background – this was the same for all the machines except 1.

Does anyone know exactly how the operating system reacts to having a larger amount of RAM? I was assuming it would make changes to the page file?

I can’t find anything to answer my question.
TIA
