Xamarin Forms GPS events do not fire when the app is not in foreground

0

I am using Xamarin Essentials GPS inside the home page of the application like this

private async void Current_PositionChanged(object sender,
Plugin.Geolocator.Abstractions.PositionEventArgs e)
{
App.Latitude = e.Position.Latitude.ToString();
App.Longitude = e.Position.Longitude.ToString();

}

The problem is that when the application is sent to background or the lock screen appears the event does not fire .
Is there a way around this ?
