The Oklahoma City Thunder are hoping for a resurgent 2015-16 season after missing the playoffs for the first time in five years in large part because of superstar Kevin Durant's season-ending foot injury.
But Durant is back at full strength and showed on Friday, along with wingman Russell Westbrook, that the Thunder can be one of the league’s most prolific offenses.
The duo combined to score 91 points in a 139-136 double-overtime win over the Orlando Magic. Durant put up 43 points in the contest, and Westbrook had 48.
"Sometimes you have to let your big dogs be big dogs," Durant said, according to the Oklahoman's Anthony Slater.

"I would tell you I practice those shots every day but I don't," Westbrook told reporters following the win, per Slater. "Lucky it went in, happy it went in."
But this isn’t the first time the Thunder stars have both dropped 40 points in the same game. On February 19, 2012, Durant netted 51 points against the Denver Nuggets, while Westbrook chipped in with 40. According to ESPN, they are the first teammates in NBA history to do so multiple times.
Before Durant and Westbrook accomplished the feat in 2012, the last two teammates to each net 40 points in a game, per the NBA on ESPN, were arguably the best tandem in league history: the Chicago Bulls’ Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen.
