How to change the text of a button generated through IntelliJ IDEA GUI?

So, I am creating a GUI project in IntelliJ IDEA, and let's say I need to change the text of a button for whatever reason. Well, I call mainWindow.button1.setText("Hello");, but when I run the program, it still says 'Click' (the default). So I figured maybe it was setting the button to say 'Click' after I called it to say 'Hello', but when I slept the program for a second in a runnable, it still never changed it. Here's the code for the button:

panel.setLayout(new com.intellij.uiDesigner.core.GridLayoutManager(2, 2, new Insets(0, 0, 0, 0), -1, -1));
