Setting a large font in NSTextField, and auto-sizing the widget to fit the font

0

Can I set an arbitrarily large font in an NSTextField widget? Does it only support the three mini, small and regular font sizes? I'm trying to set the font the font size dynamically (as the user specifies) and to have the text field automatically grow to fit.

Does the NSTextField even support a larger font size, or only the three standard ones I mention above?

  • I'm using the NSFont fontWithName:size: method to get a Lucida Grande font with a size of 16.0.

  • Then I use setFont: on the NSTextField.

  • After this I use sizeToFit but it doesn't seem to do anything. The control height is 21.0.

  • Also, I tried using sizeThatFits: but not surprisingly it gives me the same height of 21.0.

It makes no difference the size of font I set. I get 21.0 for height.

Thanks.
