sorting array based on key having time in Objective C?
I have an array of dictionaries. showing follow:
(
{
from = "02:22 PM";
sport = Baseball;
"sport_id" = 39;
status = Available;
to = "03:22 PM";
},
{
from = "09:22 AM";
sport = Baseball;
"sport_id" = 39;
status = Unavailable;
to = "10:22 AM";
}
)
I want to sort these data by key 'from'. How can do that?

You can use a formatter to transform theNSString
value forfrom
andsortedArrayUsingComparator:
to sort the array using a block that compare the dictionary according to the wanted value.

Problem solve by:
NSArray* sortedDatesArray = [ar sortedArrayUsingComparator: ^(id a, id b) {
NSDateFormatter *dateFormatter = [[NSDateFormatter alloc] init];
[dateFormatter setDateFormat:@"hh:mm a"];
NSDate *d1 = [dateFormatter dateFromString: [a objectForKey:@"from"]];
NSDate *d2 = [dateFormatter dateFromString: [b objectForKey:@"from"]];
return [d1 compare: d2];
}];

PrefersobjectForKey:
instead ofvalueForKey:
. For aNSDictionary
, it's okay, but if by some circumstances, it's anNSArray
for instance, the output might not be the one you expect and might causes a crash.
