Fred Kendall (born January 31, 1949 in Torrance, California) is a former catcher who played for parts of 12 seasons in Major League Baseball for the San Diego Padres, Cleveland Indians, and Boston Red Sox.


His son, Jason Kendall was a catcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Milwaukee Brewers, Oakland Athletics, Chicago Cubs, and Kansas City Royals in the major leagues.



Baseball career[edit]


In 1973 he was voted Most Valuable Padre after setting career high marks in batting average (.282) and in home runs (10).[1]


Kendall managed the South Bend Silver Hawks, a Chicago White Sox affiliate in the Midwest League, in 1995 and was a Kansas City Royals bull pen coach.
