APNS / APNS_SANDBOX and App Provisioning (debug, distribution, release, ad hoc) - which can use what?
When testing an app that uses APNS, I ran several times into an issue that a push notification was not delivered because the App was is debug mode while the server was configured to use the production APNS or vice versa. So, I'd like to understand which combinations play together and which fail.
Does an app provisioned as production is also allowed to use the APNS-SANDBOX or vice versa?
This answer indicates that you now can use the production APNS also during development (if you take care not to send test messages to real users).
Which provisioning modes are regarded as production and which as development?
It this documented / explained somewhere (by Apple)?
