Continuously send data to server without closing the connection

0

In the example below the server will continuously send data to the client, without closing the connection.

app.get("/seconds", (req, res) => {
let seconds = 0;
setInterval(() => {
res.write(JSON.stringify({ secs: seconds }));
}, 1000);
});

My question is: During this session, can the client use the opened connection to send new data without the need for setting the http header again?

I know the question is strange, but the circumstances are strange also.

I can not use websockets because the client is not a browser but an embedded uController device: link.

I can not use TCP and HTTP server at the same time because the app is going to be deployed on Heroku. Heroku doesn't support multiple ports.

My intention is somehow to use the TCP connection for bidirectional data exchange.
